Go South-West, Young Man!

Er, posting might be light over the next few days? <Ahem> We're off to the Big Green Gathering*. If we're spared, we'll be off to the Northern equivalent in a fortnight or so, as well.

In the meantime, what better way to kick off my new moblog (see sidebar) than with this image of Catherine the Great? It's a new statue to her, being erected at the bottom of Krasnodar's main street. Krasnodar ("Red Gift") was, of course, known in its pre-revolutionary incarnation as Ekaterinodar ("Catherine's Gift").



This by way of wordplay welcome to Charlotte, and also, belatedly, to Luca, who maintains the fine tradition set by Ms.Dynamite-E-e of being brought into the world on a date whose day,month and year share the same digit.
